The Costs Involved

If you are considering adopting a furry companion from us, we should make you aware of the other costs involved of taking care of them.

Typically costs involved for the basic medical care required for cats includes the following:

  • Veterinary Consultation – £25*
  • Worming – £5 per month*
  • Flea Treatments – £5 per month*
  • 2 x Vaccinations – £30 each*
  • Neutering – £60 (male) £80 (female) one off cost*
  • Microchipping – £25 one off cost*
  • Insurance – £10 per month*

Giving a total initial outlay of £190 for male cats and £210 for female cats*

All cats adopted from Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue require a £100 adoption fee. However they come already health checked by our vets, neutered (if over 6 months), 1st Vaccination (typically), Microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, FREE food Voucher, a Pet Remedy New Home pack (worth £28) and with 1 months FULL insurance policy through Pet Plan.

Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue save you approximately £120 – £160 per cat.

* Costs indicated are conservative estimates based on prices in the Fife area and will be considerably higher in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Please note however – that Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue DO have to pay these veterinary fees to have all of our cats provided with this basic level of care before they leave Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue.

If you would like to donate a little extra to help towards the expenses incurred during our cats rehabilitation and recovery and subsequent basic health care, it would be very much appreciated. If you are able to Gift Aid your additional donation it will go even further and enable us to help even more cats in need.

Thank you.
