I found home... Louie the cat found a new home thanks to Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue

Louie

Louie - a gorgeous little lad looking for love10 - 12 mth old, male black cat

Original Homing Text:

Louie is a stunning little cat that found his way to the Harbour after a member of the public found him wandering the streets with a sore leg and we could not locate his owners.

Since his arrival at Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue Louie has become a firm favourite of everyone here (mmmm don't they all?! ) and is a big sookie boy who loves petts and cuddles, when he isn't in play mode!

A pure black cat he is, as always, very difficult to photograph well and his pictures do not do him any justice at all. He has a beautiful sheen to his coat and his nature is very loving and gentle but equally as cheeky and full of fun with a little independent side to him as well and won't fall over himself to make a fuss of strangers, you have to earn his friendship! ( pick up a toy and he'll be your friend for the duration at least).

He has a cheeky little side too and loves to play especially with his slaves and is happy to keep himself amused with toys when on his own.

Louie - a happy little black cat looking for loveLouie was seen by our vet on his arrival after noticing a limp on one of his back legs. This has been caused by a previous untreated injury which has caused a callous to form over his knee joint, therefore causing stiffness and a slight impairment to his movement and ability to ump (at times).

There are no long term issues to be expected, however as Louie gets older he will be likely to develop arthritis in the joint and may need occasional pain medication.

This would not affect the ability to insure Louie however you may find that an insurance policy may exclude any treatment of the affected knee from policy coverage. This should be checked directly with the relevant insurer.

As a result of this stiffness we are looking for an indoor only home for Louie to ensure that he can cope physically with his surrounding environment and to keep him away from possible dangers he may be unable to get away from quickly i.e. scaling a high wall or fence.

Louie - could you love him?Louie does get on well with other cats and would be great in a family setting with older children (8+) or equally suited to an adult home. He is a very intelligent cat who loves to be stimulated and challenged and as an indoor only cat consideration will have to be given to how you provide this.

Advice and ideas are available from staff at Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue and we are always happy to help where we can.

Thank you for reading Louie's profile.

Please note there is a set donation of £50 on the adoption of any cat or kitten from Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue.

Update 22/12/2009: Louie who has now become known as Archie is settling in brilliantly in his new home. In true Archie style we received the following update which we thought we'd share!

"I thought you might like to know how I am settling in with my new companions.  The humans were no trouble at all and I had them trained to answer my every need in a matter of hours.  Gladys the Burmese Princess took a couple of days.  The silly girl kept hissing at me (such an unattractive sound) but after a couple of cuffs round the ear she stopped that nonsense and gave me a bath instead. "

We look forward to more updates soon!
